How is ideafusion different from new other product development companies?ideafusion is different in many ways. The primary difference, however, is the level of abstraction at which we work at new product development. We aim at a high level of abstraction which allows for comparison ratings between products within a company's range of offerings, with competitors' products, and even (as our database of product ratings grows) across product categories. In this way, it is possible to meaningfully compare scores across industries. Another important difference is the way we work with companies to help them learn a new language which can help their NPD processes into the future. Although at first the Creative Product Analysis lingo can seem a little abstract, once engineers, designers, and others in the company start using it, they can communicate more effectively toward their common goal: stronger, more refined and well-developed products.
Where can I find more information about the research that is the basis for ideafusion services?On this website, there is an extensive bibliography of publications about the research that proposed and then validated the Creative Product Analysis Model. Copies of these articles can be purchased from document delivery companies or ordered from the interlibrary loan departments of most academic libraries. Where did you get the name ideafusion?Naming is a fun, if inexact science. For us, ideafusion evokes thoughts of the powerful energy generated when two or more ideas collide in time and space. It also suggests the power of collaboration when working on any project, product, or service. Two heads are better than one! How can I get a copy of the Creative Product Semantic Scale?There is, on this website, a page with some sample items from the copyrighted 55 item CPSS. Earlier published versions are not recommended because the measure has been changed and revised through the validation processes. The CPSS is available only online to authorized clients. Can Creative Product Analysis be used on new services or only on new products?Creative Product Analysis should work well on new services as well as on new products. We have never assessed a new service offering using the CPSS, and would like to try it. If you have an appropriate project in mind, please contact us. How long does it take to do a Creative Product Analysis Study?A small study like the one described on this website as an example may be done in less than a week. In a study where more products are assessed, or where more participants are involved, the time from the start of data collection to the presentation of results and interpretation may be several weeks or a month. There should also be careful planning before the start of data collection, to be sure that you have ready the product concepts that you want most to test.
